The short answer.
The Innovation Nexus regions page maps its work on innovation across the six Consortium regions: Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North Africa, and North America. A regional entry appears only where a programme record supports it, with its status.

Innovation policy has strong regional institutions.
- Europe: smart specialisation strategies under EU cohesion policy, and the European Innovation Council.
- Africa: the AU Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa and national innovation agencies.
- Asia and the Pacific: national innovation agencies and ASEAN science and technology cooperation.
- Latin America and the Caribbean: regional development bank innovation programmes and national science ministries.
Regional work asks how these systems can carry resilience questions, such as early warning technology or climate-adapted agriculture, into their priorities. See regional innovation systems.
Work is shown as its record stands.
Programmes are listed as exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived. Country and regional entries appear when a programme record supports them.
Terms used on this page.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Subsidiarity | The principle that a decision is taken at the lowest level able to take it well, with a higher level acting only where the objective cannot be achieved closer to the people concerned; the Treaty on European Union states it. |
| Multi-level governance | Shared decision-making across local, regional, national and international levels of government. |
| Programme status | The recorded state of a programme on Nexus pages: exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived. A plan is never presented as an activity. |
