The short answer.
Innovation Nexus dialogues are structured conversations in which those who govern innovation, artificial intelligence, and industry and robotics compare evidence and options on a question with an accountable owner. Each runs under agreed attribution rules, often the Chatham House Rule, and its outcome note is published with participants' consent. A dialogue is listed only once it is confirmed.
Connected activity in Brazil.
Night-time lights and population density, the footprint of electrified, connected activity, framed on Brazil as an example geography for this subject; each layer is a dated NASA product.

How can an institution adopt something new without losing control of it?
Innovation dialogues on this platform sit between a technology and the institution that would use it: a city testing drone inspection of flood defences, a health agency trialling AI triage, a utility piloting a new forecasting service. The governance questions are about trial design, liability, procurement and exit, more than about the technology itself.
| Format | Use |
|---|---|
| Sandbox design dialogue | Regulator, innovator and affected users agree the boundaries, metrics and exit conditions of a trial |
| Procurement clinic | Public buyers work through outcome-based or innovation procurement options |
| Anticipatory governance session | A technology still in the lab is examined for the oversight it will need |
Testing claims before trial.
Technical claims are checked with GCRI Nexus Labs before a dialogue relies on them. The experimental governance topic covers the regulatory side.
Terms used on this page.
Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Chatham House Rule | A rule under which participants may use information received but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of speakers. |
| Science-policy interface | The arrangements through which scientific evidence reaches public decisions, including advisory committees, chief scientific advisers, academies and intergovernmental assessments. |
| Track two dialogue | Informal dialogue among non-official participants, such as experts, that can explore options officials cannot. |
| Deliberative forum | A structured process in which participants weigh evidence and arguments together before reaching a view, the approach the OECD describes for representative deliberative processes. |
