Uganda Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Uganda is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Uganda, an independent and interdisciplinary network of national and international experts. Operating autonomously from the Government of Uganda and all political affiliations, NWG Uganda provides a neutral, evidence-based platform for inclusive dialogue and systems innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national engagement is part of a global initiative spearheaded by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF) to build anticipatory and collaborative resilience strategies. The forum engages stakeholders across the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government (participating strictly as stakeholders, not organizers).
Strategic Purpose
The Uganda edition is designed to:
- Tackle systemic risks such as climate variability, flood-drought cycles, public health shocks, and displacement;
- Advance adaptive governance and multi-stakeholder planning for sustainable infrastructure and food systems;
- Promote ethical use of frontier technologies for financial inclusion and anticipatory response;
- Connect traditional ecological knowledge, youth innovation, and global research communities in co-creating solutions.
The forum serves as a collaborative engine for designing resilience strategies grounded in local realities, while contributing to regional and global transformation.
Governance and Participation
NWG Uganda is structured with full institutional independence, aligned with the ethical, strategic, and scientific principles of GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with, influenced by, or accountable to any political authority, ensuring credibility, transparency, and inclusive knowledge exchange.
Participation is open to researchers, government advisors, community leaders, youth networks, diaspora professionals, private sector actors, and regional organizations. The forum supports horizontal dialogue, ethical innovation, and south-south cooperation in risk governance.
Join the Movement
We invite policy innovators, environmental defenders, financial strategists, humanitarian actors, youth leaders, and Indigenous knowledge holders to join the Global Risks Forum – Uganda Series as contributors, facilitators, and partners. Together, we can shape bold, inclusive, and future-ready systems that build resilience for Uganda—and amplify its leadership in global risk governance.
