Afghanistan Risks Forum

The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Afghanistan is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Afghanistan, an independent coalition of national and international experts. Operating autonomously from the Government of Afghanistan or any political affiliation, NWG Afghanistan serves as a nonpartisan platform for open, evidence-based dialogue and innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).

This series forms part of the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF)—a globally networked initiative focused on addressing systemic risks through foresight-driven collaboration, technological integration, and cross-sector resilience strategies. It provides a structured space for engagement among stakeholders from the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, the private sector, international partners, and government institutions (participating as stakeholders, not organizers).

Strategic Purpose

The Afghanistan series is designed to:

  • Facilitate independent, high-level discourse on national and transboundary risks;
  • Advance the use of frontier technologies in multi-hazard preparedness and resilience planning;
  • Strengthen anticipatory governance, financial innovation, and institutional capacity for systemic risk management;
  • Promote inclusive, place-based solutions through collaboration among local communities, diaspora networks, and global experts.

Sessions are oriented toward action—supporting the development of strategic frameworks, simulation-based policies, risk-informed financing mechanisms, and co-governance systems that embed sustainability, accountability, and equity.

Governance and Participation

All activities under NWG Afghanistan are independently designed and executed in alignment with the global frameworks of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accountable to any government entity or political party, ensuring that all dialogues, outputs, and collaborations are guided solely by scientific rigor, ethical independence, and global solidarity.

Participation is open to professionals, institutions, networks, and community leaders committed to constructive, nonpartisan engagement. The event promotes horizontal learning, strategic foresight, and inclusive innovation, making it a vital space for those shaping the future of Afghanistan’s resilience.

Join the Movement

We invite researchers, practitioners, policy leaders, financial actors, technology developers, and community stakeholders to join the Global Risks Forum – Afghanistan Series as speakers, contributors, and partners. This is an opportunity to engage in the co-creation of risk governance pathways, anticipatory finance strategies, and inclusive innovation systems tailored to Afghanistan’s unique risk environment—while remaining connected to a global alliance of forward-looking change agents.
