Togo Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Togo is an annual, hybrid-format initiative convened by NWG Togo, an independent, multidisciplinary platform of national and international experts. Operating autonomously from the Government of Togo and any political affiliation, NWG Togo provides a neutral, evidence-based platform for collaborative innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
As part of the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF), this forum supports anticipatory governance, ethical technology deployment, and cross-sector collaboration to confront complex, cascading risks. It gathers diverse actors across the quintuple helix—including academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government stakeholders (participating in a non-organizing capacity).
Strategic Purpose
The Togo edition is designed to:
- Facilitate inclusive dialogue on regional hazards such as coastal erosion, flooding, food insecurity, and socio-political fragility;
- Promote the development of localized adaptation and early action strategies driven by community intelligence and frontier technology;
- Strengthen disaster finance ecosystems through parametric instruments, insurance innovation, and blockchain integration;
- Bridge knowledge between Indigenous traditions, youth-led innovation, and scientific expertise for future-ready resilience.
The forum is action-oriented—fostering simulation-based policy, co-designed governance models, and open-access solutions that are context-sensitive and regionally scalable.
Governance and Participation
NWG Togo operates with full independence from political structures and is aligned with the governance principles of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with or accountable to any government entity, ensuring a neutral space for constructive dialogue and action.
Participation is open to researchers, policymakers, Indigenous leaders, civil society groups, financial actors, and regional organizations. The series fosters equitable collaboration, ethical foresight, and systems transformation through south-south learning and global solidarity.
