Tajikistan Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Tajikistan is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Tajikistan, an independent coalition of researchers, community leaders, youth advocates, and international collaborators. Operating autonomously from the Government of Tajikistan and without political affiliation, NWG Tajikistan provides a nonpartisan platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive innovation and regional cooperation.
As part of the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), this forum convenes actors from across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government (participating as stakeholders only)—to address complex, transboundary risks in a mountainous, water-stressed, and development-constrained context.
Strategic Purpose
The Tajikistan edition is designed to:
- Address systemic risks including glacial melt, water stress, seismic activity, rural poverty, and food insecurity;
- Support anticipatory governance in water management, infrastructure, and energy systems across the Central Asian region;
- Integrate Indigenous knowledge and digital tools for climate resilience and ecosystem preservation in highland and remote communities;
- Advance cross-border cooperation for disaster preparedness, climate diplomacy, and sustainable resource governance.
Sessions prioritize participatory foresight, simulation-based planning, and place-based resilience strategies that reflect Tajikistan’s mountainous terrain, climate exposure, and development goals.
Governance and Participation
NWG Tajikistan operates with full institutional independence, in alignment with the ethical, participatory, and scientific principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any political or governmental body, ensuring neutrality, transparency, and inclusivity.
Participation is open to water experts, Indigenous leaders, youth organizations, civil society networks, environmental scientists, technologists, and international development partners. The forum promotes horizontal learning, regional solidarity, and sustainable innovation rooted in Tajikistan’s unique ecological and cultural context.
Join the Movement
We invite mountain stewards, disaster planners, data scientists, engineers, educators, and global allies to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Tajikistan Series as speakers, contributors, and co-creators. Together, let us co-design resilient, just, and climate-smart systems that protect Tajikistan’s people, ecosystems, and regional future.
