Switzerland Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Switzerland is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Switzerland, an independent coalition of risk analysts, sustainability experts, Indigenous knowledge holders, and international partners. Operating independently from the Government of Switzerland and without political affiliation, NWG Switzerland serves as a nonpartisan platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through anticipatory governance and ethical innovation.
As part of the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the forum convenes actors across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international institutions, and government (participating as stakeholders only)—to co-design systems of resilience that reflect Switzerland’s global leadership in diplomacy, finance, and humanitarian innovation.
Strategic Purpose
The Switzerland edition is designed to:
- Address systemic and emerging risks including climate change, energy transition, digital security, cross-border finance, and alpine ecosystem degradation;
- Promote anticipatory governance and neutral convening in support of global peacebuilding, climate diplomacy, and disaster finance;
- Advance Switzerland’s role as a hub for ethical AI, inclusive innovation, and high-trust institutional ecosystems;
- Foster knowledge exchange and strategic foresight across European, Global South, and multilateral partnerships.
Sessions emphasize scenario-based strategy, simulation-informed public policy, and the integration of financial, ecological, and ethical frameworks in both national and global contexts.
Governance and Participation
NWG Switzerland is fully institutionally independent, governed according to the ethical, scientific, and participatory values of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any governmental or political body, ensuring neutrality, integrity, and inclusive stakeholder engagement.
Participation is open to climate scientists, financial institutions, Indigenous networks, peacebuilders, humanitarian organizations, academic researchers, technologists, and global development actors. The forum promotes collaboration rooted in neutrality, foresight, and mutual accountability.
