Sudan Risks Forum

The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Sudan is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Sudan, an independent coalition of researchers, civil society leaders, peacebuilders, and international experts. Operating autonomously from the Government of Sudan and free from political affiliation, NWG Sudan provides a nonpartisan platform to advance disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive, conflict-sensitive, and forward-looking collaboration.

As part of the global initiative by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), this forum engages actors from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international institutions, and government (as stakeholders only)—to address complex, interconnected risks in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

Strategic Purpose

The Sudan edition is designed to:

  • Address intersecting risks including political instability, climate-related displacement, flooding, drought, and food insecurity;
  • Support anticipatory governance and peacebuilding by integrating digital tools, Indigenous knowledge, and humanitarian innovation;
  • Promote inclusive recovery strategies through risk-informed planning, youth leadership, and regional cooperation;
  • Facilitate multi-level collaboration on climate adaptation, infrastructure renewal, and conflict-sensitive development in the Horn of Africa.

Sessions emphasize scenario-based foresight, participatory dialogue, and co-creation of adaptive systems grounded in local realities and long-term resilience goals.

Governance and Participation

NWG Sudan operates with full institutional independence, guided by the participatory, ethical, and scientific principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any political or governmental entity, ensuring transparency, neutrality, and inclusivity in all engagements.

Participation is open to peacebuilders, researchers, youth leaders, grassroots organizations, humanitarian actors, technologists, and diaspora partners. The forum promotes horizontal learning, digital inclusion, and equitable systems transformation grounded in Sudan’s cultural diversity and resilience.

Join the Movement

We invite policy strategists, humanitarian technologists, climate activists, community organizers, and global allies to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Sudan Series as speakers, co-creators, and ecosystem partners. Together, let’s co-develop just, anticipatory, and community-driven solutions that restore dignity, sustainability, and stability across Sudan.
