Solomon Islands Risks Forum

The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Solomon Islands is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Solomon Islands, an independent alliance of local experts, Indigenous leaders, civil society organizations, and international partners. Operating autonomously from the Government of the Solomon Islands and free of political affiliation, NWG Solomon Islands offers a nonpartisan, community-centered platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) in line with local priorities and cultural values.

As part of the global initiative by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the forum brings together stakeholders across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government actors (participating as stakeholders only)—to address the multidimensional vulnerabilities and opportunities faced by Pacific Island states.

Strategic Purpose

The Solomon Islands edition is designed to:

  • Address compounding risks including sea-level rise, tropical cyclones, food insecurity, and earthquake vulnerability;
  • Support anticipatory governance and community resilience through Indigenous knowledge, digital tools, and sustainable practices;
  • Promote inclusive innovation in fisheries, agriculture, health, and education systems;
  • Strengthen regional partnerships across the Pacific on ocean governance, climate finance, and disaster preparedness.

Sessions prioritize co-creation of context-responsive policy, scenario-based planning, and regional solidarity in addressing climate and development challenges.

Governance and Participation

NWG Solomon Islands operates with full institutional independence, in alignment with the participatory, scientific, and ethical principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any political or governmental entity, ensuring inclusiveness, transparency, and respect for local autonomy and cultural governance systems.

Participation is open to Indigenous knowledge holders, youth leaders, educators, environmental stewards, women’s organizations, and international development allies. The forum fosters horizontal knowledge exchange, digital inclusion, and resilience leadership from the ground up.

Join the Movement

We invite climate advocates, ocean scientists, traditional leaders, youth networks, and resilience innovators to contribute to the Global Risks Forum – Solomon Islands Series as speakers, co-creators, and partners. Together, let’s build regenerative, sovereign, and future-ready solutions anchored in the knowledge, values, and leadership of Solomon Islands communities.
