North Macedonia Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: North Macedonia is a hybrid-format initiative led by NWG North Macedonia, an independent coalition of sustainability experts, digital transformation leaders, climate scientists, civil society organizations, youth advocates, and urban planners. Operating independently of the Government of North Macedonia and all political affiliations, NWG North Macedonia provides a nonpartisan, evidence-based platform to advance disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive, foresight-driven collaboration.
In alignment with the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the forum connects local priorities with global risk foresight systems and technological innovations. It mobilizes stakeholders across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international partners, and public institutions (as stakeholders, not organizers).
Strategic Purpose
The North Macedonia edition is designed to:
- Address intersecting risks such as earthquakes, climate-induced floods, air pollution, energy vulnerability, and digital infrastructure fragility;
- Strengthen anticipatory governance, environmental planning, and regional resilience across the Balkans;
- Advance disaster risk finance tools such as blockchain-enabled insurance, green bonds, climate finance platforms, and ESG-aligned investment tracking;
- Empower youth networks, women-led organizations, municipalities, and innovation hubs to lead locally grounded resilience strategies.
Sessions will feature scenario-based planning, simulation labs, urban foresight workshops, and digital innovation forums aligned with EU integration goals and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
Governance and Participation
All NWG North Macedonia activities are independently governed and executed, in full alignment with the principles of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with or accountable to any governmental or political body, ensuring scientific neutrality, transparency, and ethical independence.
Participation is open to universities, municipal authorities, youth and women’s organizations, green tech entrepreneurs, civil society groups, and international partners. The North Macedonia series fosters cross-sectoral dialogue, regional collaboration, and ethical innovation for a more resilient and sustainable future.
