Mozambique Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Mozambique is a hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Mozambique, an autonomous coalition of climate adaptation experts, civil society organizations, disaster response specialists, Indigenous leaders, youth innovators, and policy researchers. Operating independently of the Government of Mozambique and all political affiliations, NWG Mozambique provides a nonpartisan platform to advance disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive, community-driven, and technology-enabled strategies.
In alignment with the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF), the Mozambique edition connects national risk governance and local adaptation efforts with global systems for foresight, finance, and resilience innovation. It engages stakeholders from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, public institutions (as stakeholders), and international partners.
Strategic Purpose
The Mozambique edition is designed to:
- Address high-impact risks including cyclones, coastal flooding, drought, displacement, food insecurity, and infrastructure vulnerability;
- Strengthen anticipatory governance systems for early warning, humanitarian response, and climate-smart recovery;
- Promote disaster risk finance mechanisms such as blockchain-enabled cash transfers, index-based insurance, and green investment models;
- Empower local communities, women’s networks, and youth leaders in co-creating long-term resilience strategies across rural and urban areas.
Sessions will include simulation labs, risk foresight workshops, and regional policy dialogues focused on inclusive adaptation and cross-sector cooperation.
Governance and Participation
All NWG Mozambique activities are independently led and governed, in alignment with the principles of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with or accountable to any government or political institution, ensuring neutrality, scientific integrity, and transparency.
Participation is open to disaster response agencies, Indigenous organizations, youth movements, research institutions, humanitarian actors, and international collaborators. The Mozambique series promotes equity-centered innovation, horizontal knowledge exchange, and anticipatory resilience building.
