Mauritius Risks Forum

The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Mauritius is a hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Mauritius, an autonomous coalition of sustainability experts, climate scientists, digital innovators, civil society leaders, and youth networks. Functioning independently of the Government of Mauritius and all political affiliations, NWG Mauritius provides a nonpartisan, foresight-driven platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).

In partnership with the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the Mauritius edition bridges island-specific adaptation strategies with global risk governance systems. It engages a broad range of stakeholders across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, public institutions (as stakeholders), and international organizations—to co-develop resilient, inclusive, and tech-enabled responses to shared risks.

Strategic Purpose

The Mauritius edition is designed to:

  • Tackle risks including sea-level rise, tropical cyclones, biodiversity loss, tourism disruption, and energy transition challenges;
  • Strengthen anticipatory governance and adaptive coastal planning through simulation, open data, and participatory policy design;
  • Advance disaster risk finance solutions such as climate insurance, green bonds, blockchain-enabled aid, and blue economy investments;
  • Elevate Indigenous ecological knowledge, marine expertise, and youth innovation in driving sustainable development and island resilience.

Sessions will include scenario planning, policy simulation, and cross-sector collaboration focused on sustainability, regional cooperation, and long-term resilience.

Governance and Participation

All NWG Mauritius activities are independently designed and governed, in alignment with the ethical and participatory principles of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with or accountable to any government or political entity, ensuring scientific neutrality, ethical transparency, and civic inclusivity.

Participation is open to environmental scientists, educators, policymakers, local leaders, entrepreneurs, youth and women’s organizations, and international development partners. The Mauritius series promotes knowledge sharing, anticipatory innovation, and collaborative leadership grounded in ecological stewardship and inclusive governance.

Join the Movement

We invite blue economy specialists, climate finance experts, data scientists, civil society organizers, and regional actors to co-create the Global Risks Forum – Mauritius Series. This is an opportunity to shape climate-smart, ocean-driven, and equity-centered resilience for Mauritius—while contributing to a globally connected transformation toward sustainable risk governance.
