Lao People’s Democratic Republic Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Lao People’s Democratic Republic is a hybrid-format initiative led by NWG
Lao PDR, an autonomous coalition of scientists, civil society leaders, Indigenous experts, youth advocates, and systems innovators. Operating independently from the Government of Lao PDR and any political entity, NWG Lao PDR serves as a nonpartisan platform for strategic collaboration in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
As part of the global mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), this series connects local resilience efforts with global foresight systems. Engagement spans the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and public institutions (as stakeholders, not organizers).
Strategic Purpose
The Lao PDR edition is designed to:
- Facilitate independent, forward-looking dialogue on flood and drought risk, climate adaptation, environmental change, food systems, and community resilience;
- Integrate cutting-edge technologies into early warning, disaster preparedness, environmental monitoring, and risk governance systems;
- Strengthen institutional and local capacity to manage compound risks affecting vulnerable communities, critical infrastructure, and regional development pathways;
- Engage youth, local communities, academic institutions, and diaspora networks in co-designing culturally grounded, scalable resilience strategies.
Forum sessions are outcome-driven—supporting the development of simulation-based policy designs, risk-informed finance mechanisms, and adaptive governance structures aligned with Lao PDR’s sustainability and resilience priorities.
Governance and Participation
All NWG Lao PDR activities are independently designed and implemented, in full compliance with GRA and GRF principles. The forum is not affiliated with any political party or governing authority, ensuring neutrality, scientific independence, and ethical inclusivity.
Participation is open to urban development professionals, humanitarian organizations, youth and women’s networks, academics, civic leaders, and international collaborators. The Lao PDR series promotes horizontal learning, innovation exchange, and systems transformation rooted in local realities and global solidarity.
Join the Movement
We invite technologists, policy advisors, civil society organizers, data scientists, humanitarian actors, and diaspora professionals to contribute to the Global Risks Forum – Lao PDR Series. This is an opportunity to shape Lao PDR’s path to resilience, digital innovation, and inclusive recovery—while building meaningful connections with a globally networked ecosystem for risk governance and peacebuilding.
