Guatemala Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Guatemala is a high-impact, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Guatemala, an autonomous, multidisciplinary network of national experts, researchers, and grassroots leaders. Operating independently from the Government of Guatemala and free from any political affiliation, NWG Guatemala serves as a neutral platform for inclusive engagement in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national forum is part of the broader ecosystem of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF)—a transnational initiative advancing anticipatory governance, digital infrastructure, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Through the engagement of the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international partners, and government agencies (as participating stakeholders)—the series supports the co-creation of sustainable, culturally grounded, and community-driven resilience strategies.
Strategic Purpose
The Guatemala edition is designed to:
- Promote independent, evidence-based dialogue on seismic risk, food insecurity, deforestation, migration, and climate vulnerability;
- Support the application of emerging technologies in early warning, crisis response, and risk-informed planning;
- Enhance national and local capacity for anticipatory governance, inclusive development, and financial innovation;
- Empower Indigenous communities, women leaders, youth organizations, and diaspora networks to co-create place-based, scalable solutions.
Each session is designed to produce real-world outcomes—advancing participatory policy frameworks, simulation-based scenario tools, and equitable finance mechanisms that align with Guatemala’s sustainable development goals and risk context.
Governance and Participation
All programs under NWG Guatemala are independently designed and implemented, in strategic alignment with the frameworks of GRA and GRF. The forum is not affiliated with any political, governmental, or lobbying entity, ensuring its outputs are guided by scientific excellence, ethical principles, and inclusive participation.
Participation is open to academic researchers, Indigenous leaders, youth groups, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and international collaborators dedicated to advancing transformative risk governance in Guatemala and the Central American region.
Join the Movement
We invite local and global partners to engage in the Global Risks Forum – Guatemala Series as contributors, co-creators, and strategic allies. This is a unique opportunity to co-develop risk-informed policies, financial tools, and participatory governance systems that reflect Guatemala’s diverse cultural, ecological, and socio-political landscape—while contributing to a globally connected movement for just, resilient, and sustainable futures.
