Cabo Verde Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Cabo Verde is a hybrid-format national initiative led by NWG Cabo Verde, an independent, nonpartisan platform composed of climate scientists, youth leaders, diaspora voices, civil society actors, and innovation stakeholders. Functioning autonomously from the Government of Cabo Verde and without political affiliation, NWG Cabo Verde provides a trusted and inclusive space for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
As part of the global vision of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), the Cabo Verde edition aims to support systemic foresight, cross-sector collaboration, and digital transformation in resilience governance. Stakeholders from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government institutions (participating as non-governing stakeholders)—come together to co-create place-based, future-ready solutions.
Strategic Purpose
The Cabo Verde series is designed to:
- Tackle interconnected risks including coastal erosion, water scarcity, marine ecosystem degradation, youth unemployment, and climate-induced migration;
- Integrate local ecological knowledge with frontier technologies to enhance national adaptation strategies;
- Promote sustainable finance mechanisms such as blue bonds, eco-tourism investment platforms, and community-based microinsurance;
- Empower youth, women, island communities, and diaspora networks in shaping anticipatory governance systems.
Sessions will result in tangible outputs such as climate-smart policy frameworks, island-specific resilience roadmaps, decentralized financing tools, and participatory digital platforms for risk monitoring.
Governance and Participation
NWG Cabo Verde operates with full independence, in line with the global values and governance principles of GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with, nor accountable to, any political institution or government body, ensuring the neutrality, credibility, and inclusiveness of all its dialogues and outcomes.
Participation is open to researchers, coastal communities, tech innovators, sustainable finance actors, youth collectives, and international collaborators committed to equitable, science-based, and locally anchored resilience-building.
Join the Movement
We invite ocean stewards, policy architects, blue economy developers, digital entrepreneurs, diaspora leaders, and multilateral partners to join the Global Risks Forum – Cabo Verde Series as speakers, contributors, and co-creators. This is a vital opportunity to build anticipatory governance systems, regenerative economic models, and inclusive resilience pathways shaped by Cabo Verde’s unique challenges and bold global vision.
