Burkina Faso Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Burkina Faso is a hybrid-format national initiative led by NWG Burkina Faso, an independent, nonpartisan coalition of researchers, youth networks, community-based organizations, Indigenous leaders, and innovation partners. Functioning autonomously from the Government of Burkina Faso and without political affiliation, NWG Burkina Faso provides a trusted space for dialogue, foresight, and co-creation in the fields of disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national edition contributes to the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF)—international platforms advancing ethical foresight, collective intelligence, and resilience systems for sustainable development. The forum connects actors across the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government (participating as non-governing stakeholders).
Strategic Purpose
The Burkina Faso series is designed to:
- Tackle systemic risks including climate change, food insecurity, conflict-driven displacement, drought, and land degradation;
- Strengthen local-to-global resilience strategies using participatory data systems, anticipatory governance, and scenario planning;
- Support inclusive finance mechanisms such as climate-responsive social protection, parametric insurance, and green community funds;
- Elevate the voices of women, youth, Indigenous communities, and rural stakeholders in risk governance and sustainability planning.
Sessions will generate outputs including localized risk maps, simulation-based policy frameworks, digital adaptation toolkits, and scalable finance solutions.
Governance and Participation
NWG Burkina Faso operates with full independence, in line with GRA and GRF principles of ethical autonomy, transparency, and global solidarity. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accountable to any government or political institution, ensuring scientific rigor and open participation.
Participation is open to researchers, humanitarian actors, Indigenous knowledge holders, civil society organizations, youth groups, financial innovators, and international partners committed to inclusive and sustainable resilience-building.
Join the Movement
We invite policymakers, agroecological leaders, development practitioners, local cooperatives, diaspora professionals, technology innovators, and multilateral institutions to join the Global Risks Forum – Burkina Faso Series as speakers, contributors, and co-creators. This platform offers a transformative opportunity to co-design anticipatory governance systems, regenerative finance tools, and community-based resilience pathways that honor Burkina Faso’s knowledge, values, and aspirations.
