Bulgaria Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Bulgaria is a hybrid-format national initiative led by NWG Bulgaria, an independent, multidisciplinary coalition of scientists, youth leaders, civil society organizations, digital innovators, and academic institutions. Functioning independently from the Government of Bulgaria and unaffiliated with any political entity, NWG Bulgaria offers a nonpartisan platform for advancing dialogue, foresight, and innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national edition supports the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF)—international platforms promoting systemic risk governance, ethical innovation, and collaborative resilience building. The forum engages stakeholders across the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, private sector, international partners, and government institutions (as non-governing participants).
Strategic Purpose
The Bulgaria series is designed to:
- Address intersecting risks such as energy transition challenges, seismic threats, population aging, and digital infrastructure vulnerabilities;
- Support the integration of EU resilience strategies with localized, real-time intelligence tools and community-driven governance;
- Promote green finance, smart infrastructure development, and climate adaptation through inclusive policy and technology design;
- Empower youth, rural communities, and the scientific ecosystem to drive equitable and future-oriented resilience solutions.
Sessions are focused on action-oriented results including co-created risk governance frameworks, anticipatory finance tools, regional risk dashboards, and scenario-based resilience simulations.
Governance and Participation
NWG Bulgaria operates with full independence, in accordance with the values and frameworks of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accountable to any political institution or government authority, ensuring scientific rigor, transparency, and open access.
Participation is open to researchers, municipal leaders, civil society organizations, youth networks, financial actors, technology developers, and European regional partners committed to systemic, inclusive, and sustainable risk governance.
Join the Movement
We invite policy leaders, data scientists, environmental planners, climate finance experts, youth advocates, and international collaborators to join the Global Risks Forum – Bulgaria Series as contributors, speakers, and strategic partners. This platform offers a vital opportunity to co-create anticipatory governance tools, sustainability-linked finance models, and resilient development pathways tailored to Bulgaria’s evolving risk landscape and European integration goals.
