Benin Risks Forum
The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Benin is a nationally driven, hybrid-format initiative coordinated by NWG Benin, an independent and nonpartisan coalition of local experts, youth networks, Indigenous leaders, researchers, and civil society organizations. Operating autonomously from the Government of Benin or any political affiliation, NWG Benin provides a trusted, evidence-based space for advancing innovative solutions in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).
This national forum is part of the global efforts of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF)—collaborative platforms that promote systemic foresight, planetary resilience, and multi-stakeholder innovation. The forum engages actors from across the quintuple helix: academia, civil society, private sector, international institutions, and government (participating only as non-governing stakeholders).
Strategic Purpose
The Benin series is designed to:
- Address compound and cascading risks such as food insecurity, urban flooding, climate-induced migration, and ecosystem degradation;
- Strengthen the use of frontier technologies in risk prediction, early warning, and community resilience;
- Mobilize climate-smart financing mechanisms, including nature-based solutions and social safety nets;
- Amplify the leadership of local communities, youth innovators, and diaspora actors in co-developing risk governance systems.
Sessions emphasize practical outcomes—generating adaptive policy tools, integrated data systems, anticipatory budgeting frameworks, and locally informed disaster resilience strategies.
Governance and Participation
NWG Benin operates with full independence, guided by the global principles of GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any government institution or political body, ensuring the integrity, objectivity, and openness of all processes and outcomes.
Participation is open to researchers, municipal planners, agricultural experts, financial institutions, Indigenous communities, youth organizations, and regional partners dedicated to building inclusive and sustainable resilience. The forum promotes equity, cross-cultural learning, and the decolonization of knowledge systems.
Join the Movement
We invite thought leaders, technology developers, social entrepreneurs, development partners, and grassroots actors to join the Global Risks Forum – Benin Series as speakers, collaborators, and co-creators. This platform offers a transformative opportunity to co-design resilient futures, inclusive finance tools, and multi-hazard governance models shaped by the lived realities and aspirations of communities across Benin.
