01In brief

The short answer.

Diplomacy Nexus is a specialist platform of The Global Risks Forum for diplomacy and cooperation, water, and climate and hazards. Its mandate covers scientific, policy and institutional dialogue across jurisdictions and shared global concerns. GRF publishes it, answers for its content and takes no decision on anyone's behalf. It is established and works at service level R0, information and enquiries.

Mandate to authority.

How Diplomacy Nexus is governedA mandate sets the platform's scope; an editor and reviewers govern what it publishes; programmes and the community supply the work; the integrity route handles corrections; authority over decisions stays outside. Design of the governance, not a record.

04Mandate

Dialogue across jurisdictions on shared concerns.

The platform's mandate is scientific, policy and institutional dialogue across jurisdictions and on shared global concerns. Its methods are comparative institutional dialogue, science diplomacy and cooperation design. Its audience is international affairs scholars, public institutions, policy diplomats and research networks.

It is a convening platform. Its value lies in helping institutions understand each other's evidence and mandates, and in recording what was discussed so that others can learn from it.

05Remit

Cooperation across borders on risks no state holds alone.

Diplomacy Nexus studies how states and institutions govern shared risks: transboundary water, the climate system, the high seas, technology, humanitarian access and human mobility. It convenes unofficial dialogue and joint fact-finding that can prepare official processes, and it never negotiates, represents or mediates for any state.

  • In scope: treaty regimes, basin cooperation, science diplomacy, regional dialogue methods.
  • Out of scope: positions on any dispute, and any official diplomatic role.
