No professional advice.
- 1.1 The information on the Site is provided for general information, research, education and voluntary use. It is not legal, regulatory, financial, investment, insurance, accounting, tax, engineering, medical, safety or other professional advice, and it does not create an adviser-client or other professional relationship.
- 1.2 Anyone who relies on the Site for a decision does so at their own risk and should take the advice of a competent professional and, where one exists, the instructions of the competent public authority.
- 1.3 GRF convenes and governs programmes. It does not regulate, finance, procure or certify, and hosting or sponsorship confers no authority over findings.
No forecasts, warnings or alerts.
- 2.1 Nothing on the Site is a forecast, an early warning, an alert, a rating, a recommendation to buy or sell, or an instruction to act. Only the competent public authority may warn the public or order an action in an emergency.
- 2.2 Live layers and feeds show the data of their providers as it is published, with its source and time. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and they must not be used for navigation, emergency response, safety-critical or operational decisions.
Illustrative models and figures.
- 3.1 A model, scenario, canvas, interface scene or figure that illustrates a method is labelled as illustrative. It uses example names and values, is not a record of any real system, place or institution, and is not a finding.
- 3.2 Where a figure reports a result, the page states its source, method, date and uncertainty. Gaps in the evidence are stated, not filled.
Data providers.
- 4.1 The Site shows data and imagery of third parties, among them NASA (Global Imagery Browse Services, the Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker and Prediction Of Worldwide Energy Resources), the U.S. Geological Survey, Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenFreeMap, Natural Earth and the research indexes named in the Third-party notices.
- 4.2 Each provider's own notices and disclaimers apply to its data. In particular, NASA does not endorse the Site; USGS data are provided as is without warranty of any kind; Open-Meteo data are provided for the purposes and under the terms it states and are not a forecast issued by a public authority; and OpenStreetMap data are provided under the Open Database Licence without warranty.
- 4.3 A credit is an acknowledgement of a source and not an endorsement of the Site, of its publisher or of any use made of the data. The authoritative version of any dataset is the one its provider publishes.
Maps and boundaries.
- 5.1 The boundaries, names and designations shown on maps do not imply any judgement on the legal status of any territory, or any endorsement or acceptance of such boundaries. Boundaries are drawn from Natural Earth and other sources named beside the map, and are generalised for the scale at which they are drawn.
- 5.2 Maps are shown for context. They are not suitable for navigation, surveying, the delimitation of any boundary, or any legal or administrative purpose.
No endorsement and no affiliation.
- 6.1 The Site is not issued, endorsed or approved by the United Nations, by any of its agencies, funds or programmes, by any government or by any other international organisation. A reference to such a body, to its standards or to its data identifies them and implies no affiliation or support.
- 6.2 GRF is an independent Swiss association. It is not affiliated with, a successor to or supported by any other organisation that uses a similar name or the acronym GRF, including the body known as Global Risk Forum Davos (GRF Davos).
- 6.3 The institutions of the Nexus Consortium are independent of one another. A statement on one institution's site is not a statement of another.
Limitation of liability.
- 7.1 To the extent permitted by law, GRF and its directors, staff, volunteers and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the Site, its data or its figures, including indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.
- 7.2 Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability, or any right of a consumer, that cannot be excluded or limited by the law that applies.
Corrections.
- 8.1 Errors are corrected openly. A report of an error, with the page address and a source where there is one, may be sent to contact@therisk.global. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
- 8.2 This document forms part of the Terms of Use.
