Sweden Risks Forum

The Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Sweden is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Sweden, an independent coalition of researchers, policy innovators, Indigenous representatives, and international collaborators. Operating independently from the Government of Sweden and free from political affiliation, NWG Sweden offers a nonpartisan platform for advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through inclusive, data-driven, and ethically grounded innovation.

As part of the wider mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF), the forum brings together stakeholders from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international institutions, and government (as stakeholders only)—to explore anticipatory governance, sustainable development, and technological foresight across national and Nordic contexts.

Strategic Purpose

The Sweden edition is designed to:

  • Address systemic risks such as climate adaptation, energy transition, biodiversity loss, Arctic security, and cyber resilience;
  • Support foresight-driven governance in critical infrastructure, welfare systems, and sustainable urbanism;
  • Integrate Sámi Indigenous knowledge, feminist policy frameworks, and open science into national and regional resilience strategies;
  • Strengthen global partnerships and EU leadership in ethical AI, ESG integration, and planetary health.

Sessions emphasize simulation-based policy design, participatory foresight, and collaborative innovation rooted in Sweden’s values of democracy, equity, and sustainability.

Governance and Participation

NWG Sweden operates with full institutional independence, guided by the participatory, ethical, and scientific principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any governmental or political authority, ensuring credibility, neutrality, and inclusive participation across all sectors.

Participation is open to researchers, youth leaders, Indigenous communities, technologists, public institutions, civil society actors, and international partners. The forum fosters open innovation, intergenerational knowledge exchange, and systems-based design for resilient futures.

Join the Movement

We invite climate scientists, civic technologists, human rights advocates, data stewards, and regional leaders to participate in the Global Risks Forum – Sweden Series as speakers, co-creators, and partners. Let us build anticipatory, ethical, and regenerative systems together—anchored in Sweden’s leadership and global solidarity.
