01In brief

The short answer.

Inclusive Development Governance is a chapter of Policy Nexus: a specialist sub-community with its own group, editor and research agenda. Its work starts from the cornerstone topic, inclusive development governance. Inclusive governance is the degree to which people take part in public decisions, are represented, can hold power to account and are served by public institutions. A chapter becomes a platform of its own only by meeting the graduation rule.

Inclusive Development Governance: a working group from charter to sunsetA charter sets the question and the code of conduct; members join with declared interests; a workplan produces deliverables that are reviewed and credited; the group reports and sunsets or renews. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

People and hazards in Africa.

For inclusive development governance, in GRF's situational-awareness reading, the map opens on population density, night lights and flood water, framed on Africa; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

    Research agenda

Questions the chapter works on, starting from its cornerstone topic.

05The chapter's question

Risk governance that does not leave the most exposed behind.

Disaster losses fall hardest on people with the fewest buffers. The chapter examines how social protection, financial inclusion and local participation can be built into risk policy: shock-responsive social protection, targeting rules that reach informal workers and gender-responsive recovery.

  • Shock-responsive social protection: scaling cash transfers after a hazard.
  • The Compromiso de Sevilla, adopted at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in 2025.
  • The Sendai Framework's guiding principle of an all-of-society approach.
