Fourth Meeting of the Western Pacific Region Emerging Molecular Pathogen Characterization Technologies Network (EMPaCT)

The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific will convene the Fourth Meeting of the Western Pacific Region Emerging Molecular Pathogen Characterization Technologies Network (EMPaCT) from 20 to 22 August 2025 through videoconference.
The Fourth Meeting of the Western Pacific EMPaCT Network willallow Member States and partners to review and finalize the regionalapproach for EMPaCT and its monitoring and evaluation framework, tofacilitate efficient implementation in the Region and ensure that allMember States benefit from genomic surveillance.
The objectives of the meeting are:(1) to discuss and endorse the EMPaCT approach including tracking regional progress; and
(2) to discuss and endorse an operational road map highlightingcollaboration and coordination among EMPaCT SurveillanceNetwork stakeholders to: (a) ensure public health needsdrive genomic surveillance implementation and access, andb) work towards the regional and global targets.
