Host a programme dialogue

Hosts make dialogue possible: a ministry that opens a meeting room, a university that offers a campus, a city that supports a regional exchange. The Global Risks Forum (GRF) welcomes hosting proposals under written safeguards that keep the dialogue neutral. Hosting is not ownership, and it is not endorsement: a host gains no authority over the agenda, the participants or the record, and GRF's acceptance of a venue says nothing about the host's policies. This page sets out who can host, what a hosting agreement covers and how a proposal is assessed.

01In brief

The short answer.

Hosting a GRF programme dialogue means providing a venue or support, such as a ministry meeting room, a university campus or a city's backing for a regional exchange, under written safeguards that keep the dialogue neutral. A host gains no authority over the agenda, participants or record, and no proposal is confirmed yet.

03Eligibility

Who can propose to host.

  • Public authorities, universities, research institutes, civil society organisations and community institutions.
  • Operators, enterprises and associations, subject to the conflict rules for the dialogue's subject.
  • International and regional organisations, through their own authorised instruments.

A host whose interests are directly affected by the dialogue's question may still host, but it declares that interest and takes no role in framing the question or approving the record.

04Practical requirements

What a host is asked to provide.

RequirementWhy it matters
Accessible venue and remote participationSo that participants with disabilities or travel limits are not excluded
Visa facilitation letters on requestParticipants from some countries face long lead times
Interpretation where the region needs itExclusion by language is the most common barrier
A neutral room arrangement and no host branding in the session recordHosting is not ownership of the outcome
Data protection for registration listsParticipant identities are personal data
05Neutrality

The lines a host does not cross.

  • The host does not set the question, choose participants or review the record before participants do.
  • Host officials may take part as participants on the same terms as others.
  • Hospitality is declared in the dialogue record.

The wider rules are set out under independence and hosts and supporters.

06Assessment

How a proposal becomes a confirmed host.

  1. 01

    Proposal

The host writes to partnerships@globalriskforum.com with the venue, support offered and any interest in the subject.

  2. 02

    Authority check

GRF confirms the host's authority to commit the venue and resources.

  3. 03

    Readiness review

Accessibility, safety, safeguarding, data protection for any recording, and arrangements for participants who cannot travel.

  4. 04

    Hosting agreement

A written agreement with a responsibility schedule and the safeguards below.

  5. 05

    Closeout

A closeout record of what was provided and any issues, kept with the dialogue record.

07Safeguards

08Current state

Proposals are received; none is confirmed.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. A proposal receives an acknowledgement with a reference and the next step. It is not a confirmed host, dialogue or date. Nexus Universe hosting follows its own process, described on Hosts and supporters. For general hosting terms, see Hosts and programme supporters.

11Questions

Questions and answers.

Does hosting give us a speaking slot?
Not as a right of hosting. Speaking roles follow the dialogue's question and procedure, which apply to every participant equally.
Can we co-brand the dialogue?
Acknowledgement of a host is agreed in writing. Branding never implies that GRF endorses the host or that the host endorses the outcome.
Who pays for a hosted dialogue?
Costs and contributions are set in the hosting agreement. Support is disclosed and kept separate from the agenda, participants and findings.
Can GRF decline a hosting offer?
Yes. GRF can decline where a conflict, a safety concern or a risk to neutrality cannot be managed, and the reason is recorded.
