SUMMARY:34th Meeting of the Technical Advisory Group on Immunization and Vaccine-preventable Diseases in the Western Pacific Region
DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Richard John William DUNCAN (WPRO/VDI)\nOver the past decades, the Western Pacific Region has made significant strides in saving lives throughvaccination. The Region has dramatically reduced vaccine-preventable diseases and has proudly maintained itspolio-free status since 2000, safeguarding the health of future generations.\nHowever, despite these achievements, gaps remain in realizing the shared vision on a world free from vaccine-preventable diseases. At the same time, new technologies and program innovations offer promising solutions to tackle some of the most persistent challenges including reaching zero-dose children. These innovations present opportunities to accelerate progress and enhance immunization programs. The year 2025 marks a crucial mid-point in the regional journey toward achieving the immunization goals setout in the Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) and the Regional Strategic Framework for Vaccine-PreventableDiseases and Immunization (2021-2030). At this critical juncture, it is essential that Member States, partners, and stakeholders intensify their collaboration to close the remaining gaps, sustain the gains made, accelerateprogress, and ensure that no one is left behind.\nThe objectives of the expert consultation:1) to assess the status towards the global and regional Immunization goals in the Western PacificRegion and identify areas for prioritization, acceleration, and collaboration;2) to provide recommendations on strategies and opportunities through programmatic integrationto expand the reach and impact of immunization programmes in the Western Pacific Region, including new vaccine introduction and life course expansion ; and3) to evaluate the latest health and program innovations, and coordinate with immunizationmanagers and partners plans for introducing and scaling up applicable innovations intoimmunization programme in the Region to accelerate progress.\nhttps://indico.un.org/event/1017540/\n
