Mandate, publisher and status

Information Integrity and Public Trust is published by The Global Risks Forum (GRF), a Swiss association with a public-good, not-for-profit purpose and one of the three pillar institutions of Nexus Consortiums. This page sets out the platform's subject mandate, who answers for it, the professional status of those who take part, the limits of its role and its current state of development.

01In brief

The short answer.

Information Integrity and Public Trust is a specialist platform of The Global Risks Forum for information and public trust as well as society and human development. Its mandate covers trust, information quality, media governance and public communication under systemic stress and technological change. GRF publishes it, answers for its content and takes no decision on anyone's behalf. It is in development at service level R0, and activities open as each is ready.

How Information Integrity and Public Trust is governedA mandate sets the platform's scope; an editor and reviewers govern what it publishes; programmes and the community supply the work; the integrity route handles corrections; authority over decisions stays outside. Design of the governance, not a record.

03Geography

People and hazards in Eastern Europe.

For mandate, publisher and status, in GRF's situational-awareness reading, the map opens on population density, night lights and flood water, framed on Eastern Europe; 2 further NASA layers wait in the list.

04Mandate

Trust and information quality under stress.

The platform exists to strengthen understanding of how information ecosystems shape public trust and collective action on shared risks, and how institutions can communicate and govern information responsibly.

Field

Scope

Information and public trust, with links to society and human development.

Community

Who takes part

Media researchers, science communicators, public institutions and integrity experts.

Outputs

What it is designed to publish

Public trust research, communication guidelines and information integrity cases.

05Remit

Reliable information for risk, with expression protected.

Information Integrity is a proposed specialist community, in development, for the institutions that shape what people know in a crisis: warning authorities, public broadcasters, platforms, regulators, fact-checkers and community media. It works from the UN Global Principles for Information Integrity, the UNESCO platform guidelines and human rights law on expression, and asks how accurate information reaches people without unlawful restriction.

06Publisher and professional status

Who is responsible, and in what capacity people take part.

The Global Risks Forum (GRF) publishes Information Integrity and Public Trust and answers for its content under the rules in trust, rights and status.

  • Status: Information Integrity and Public Trust is in development. Activities, records and services are published as each one opens.
  • Service level: R0, information and enquiries.
  • Why a dedicated platform: it serves a distinct research and practitioner community around information ecosystems; it is not GRF's own communications function.
  • Journalists, researchers and officials take part in their professional capacity. Participation does not commit their organizations, and editorial independence of participating media is respected.
07Limits

What the platform does not do.

  • It does not regulate, finance, procure or certify, and it does not moderate content or rate the reliability of media outlets.
  • It does not run influence campaigns or communicate on behalf of any government, party or sponsor.
  • It does not monitor or profile individuals, and research involving personal data follows ethics review and data protection rules.
  • Hosting or sponsorship confers no authority over findings.

GRF convenes and governs programmes. It does not regulate, finance, procure or certify, and hosting or sponsorship confers no authority over findings.

08How it is designed to work

From question to reviewed output.

  1. 01

    Question

Research questions come from the topics and from practitioners, and are scoped in research and evidence.

  2. 02

    Ethics

Studies involving people or their data pass ethics review and follow data protection law before they begin.

  3. 03

    Review

Outputs are reviewed by named specialists, and the same evidence standards apply to all sources and viewpoints.

  4. 04

    Publication

Reviewed outputs appear on the publications page; dialogue records only where participants agree.
