Research and institutional knowledge: systematic evidence synthesisA question is framed with its owner and a protocol registered; records are searched, screened and checked for eligibility by two reviewers; data are extracted, synthesised and graded for certainty before a brief is written. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

01In brief

The short answer.

Climate and Nature Governance research is the evidence work behind the platform: questions such as adaptation institutions and climate risk governance, answered with climate and atmospheric science as well as ecology and biodiversity science and reviewed before publication. Every result carries an evidence label, from observed to modelled or expert judgement, and missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

02Geography

People and hazards in the Andes.

For research and institutional knowledge, in GRF's situational-awareness reading, the map opens on population density, land cover and true-colour imagery, framed on the Andes; 3 further NASA layers wait in the list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

04Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Research integrityConduct of research in line with principles of reliability, honesty, respect and accountability, as the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity sets them out.
Evidence labelA tag naming the kind of evidence, such as observed or modelled, that should survive every summary.
ReproducibilityObtaining the same results from the same data and code; replicability means obtaining consistent results from new data.
Carbon budgetA cap on cumulative emissions over a period, set in some climate framework laws to steer policy towards a long-term target.
05Evidence

Every result keeps its label.

Results are labelled as observed, officially reported, estimated, modelled, forecast, scenario or expert judgement. Missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

07Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I propose a research question?
Yes. Write to contact@globalriskforum.com with the question, the context and who would use the answer. A proposal receives a reference; it does not commit the platform to the work.
