SUMMARY:Stakeholder consultation workshop on plastic pollution for CCA in Thailand
DESCRIPTION:Background\nThailand continues to lead efforts to tackle plastic pollution through its holistic policy framework such as the Roadmap on Plastic Waste Management (2018-2030), aiming to phase out key single-use plastics and transition toward a circular economy. Upstream and midstream measures including eco‐friendly product design and sustainable consumption are highlighted in the Thailand Plastic Waste Management Action Plan: Phase II (2023-2027). Collective efforts from the whole society are essential to build on a positive momentum to mitigate plastic pollution in the country.\nThe United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in line with its normative mandate, provides advice and guidance to Member States and the UN system on how to integrate environmental agenda in the context of the 2030 Agenda. The UNEP Plastics Initiative, in close collaboration with the UNEP Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), aims to support the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) and UN Country Team (UNCT) in Thailand in strengthening plastic agenda and integrating actions to address plastic pollution in the new common country analysis (CCA).\nA stakeholder consultation workshop is being organized with support from the RCO Thailand to present the stocktaking of existing data, knowledge, and resources on addressing plastic pollution in Thailand considering the full life cycle of plastics and to gather insights and feedback from diverse stakeholders to shape further actions.\nhttps://indico.un.org/event/1018214/\n
