SUMMARY:South Sudan Risks Forum
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: South Sudan is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG South Sudan, an independent coalition of national researchers, youth leaders, Indigenous communities, and global partners. Operating autonomously from the Government of South Sudan and free from political affiliation, NWG South Sudan offers a nonpartisan platform to advance disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI) through community-based resilience and systems transformation.\nAs part of the wider mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF), this forum convenes actors from across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government (as participants only)—to confront interconnected risks in fragile, post-conflict, and climate-vulnerable settings.\n\nStrategic Purpose\nThe South Sudan edition is designed to:\n\nAddress complex risks including conflict-driven displacement, flooding, food insecurity, and fragile infrastructure;\nStrengthen anticipatory governance and peacebuilding through inclusive dialogue, digital tools, and regional cooperation;\nIntegrate Indigenous knowledge systems, youth engagement, and humanitarian innovation into local and national resilience strategies;\nSupport cross-border partnerships and regional solidarity within the East African Community and IGAD frameworks.\n\nSessions emphasize foresight-driven policy design, localized knowledge sharing, and co-creation of equitable, durable solutions to systemic vulnerabilities.\n\nTechnical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration\nThe forum is powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, a quantum-cloud-enabled, AI-driven infrastructure designed to support high-risk, low-resource environments through scalable, real-time, and inclusive risk governance. Nexus capabilities tailored for South Sudan include:\n\nAI-enhanced modeling tools for climate-induced displacement, agricultural stress, and flood risk\nGeospatial and Earth observation platforms for tracking population movement, ecosystem degradation, and humanitarian access\nBlockchain-based financial tools for mobile-based aid delivery, community insurance, and conflict-sensitive investment\nIoT-enabled early warning systems for seasonal flooding, public health threats, and infrastructure collapse\nDigital twin simulations for rural service delivery, peacebuilding programs, and education continuity in crisis-affected areas\nScenario-based policy engines for livelihoods recovery, nutrition security, and women-led adaptation\nRisk indexing frameworks aligned with SDGs, AU Agenda 2063, and South Sudan’s National Development Strategy\n\nThese tools enable humanitarian actors, local governments, and communities to act proactively, coordinate more effectively, and build resilience from the ground up.\n\nGovernance and Participation\nNWG South Sudan operates with full institutional independence, guided by the participatory, ethical, and scientific standards of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any political or governmental authority, ensuring transparency, impartiality, and community ownership.\nParticipation is open to displaced populations, grassroots organizations, Indigenous leaders, youth movements, humanitarian agencies, researchers, and global allies. The forum promotes inclusive engagement, horizontal knowledge exchange, and co-design of justice-oriented resilience systems.\n\nJoin the Movement\nWe invite peacebuilders, educators, humanitarian technologists, policy advocates, and community organizers to engage in the Global Risks Forum – South Sudan Series as speakers, partners, and co-creators. Together, let us co-develop inclusive and anticipatory systems that foster peace, dignity, and resilience for the people of South Sudan.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
