SUMMARY:Senegal Risks Forum
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Global Risks Forum – National Engagement Series: Senegal is an annual, hybrid-format initiative led by NWG Senegal, an independent coalition of researchers, youth leaders, civil society actors, and international partners. Operating autonomously from the Government of Senegal and free from political affiliation, NWG Senegal provides a nonpartisan, community-rooted platform for collaborative engagement in disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).\nAs part of the global initiative led by the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and the Global Risks Forum (GRF), this series brings together stakeholders from the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international institutions, and government (as participants only)—to co-create scalable solutions for climate resilience, social equity, and sustainable innovation across Senegal’s regions.\n\nStrategic Purpose\nThe Senegal edition is designed to:\n\nAddress interconnected risks such as coastal erosion, desertification, food insecurity, and urban vulnerability;\nAdvance anticipatory governance and community-centered adaptation in agriculture, water, and health systems;\nIntegrate Indigenous knowledge, youth innovation, and digital tools in disaster preparedness and policy design;\nPromote regional cooperation in West Africa on climate governance, resource equity, and sustainable development.\n\nSessions prioritize scenario-based planning, inclusive foresight, and the co-creation of adaptive, culturally informed risk management strategies.\n\nTechnical Foundation: Nexus Ecosystem Integration\nThe forum is powered by the Nexus Ecosystem, a quantum-cloud-enabled, AI-powered infrastructure designed to support real-time decision-making, collaboration, and multi-hazard resilience. Nexus capabilities tailored for Senegal include:\n\nAI-enhanced modeling tools for drought forecasting, crop resilience, and urban heat risk\nGeospatial and Earth observation platforms for coastal monitoring, watershed planning, and infrastructure exposure\nBlockchain-based disaster finance solutions for community funds, microinsurance, and climate-resilient investment\nIoT-integrated early warning systems for flood zones, public health risks, and agricultural alerts\nDigital twin simulations for sustainable cities, green mobility, and equitable access to services\nScenario engines for food security, school safety, and ecosystem restoration\nRisk benchmarking frameworks aligned with the SDGs, African Union Agenda 2063, and ECOWAS policy instruments\n\nThese tools empower public institutions, grassroots organizations, and researchers to drive innovation, strengthen policy alignment, and build adaptive capacity from the ground up.\n\nGovernance and Participation\nNWG Senegal is governed with full institutional independence, aligned with the ethical, scientific, and participatory principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any governmental or political entity, ensuring neutrality, integrity, and inclusive governance.\nParticipation is open to farmers’ cooperatives, technologists, women’s organizations, youth networks, educators, diaspora leaders, and international partners. The forum fosters equitable collaboration, local ownership, and horizontal learning for sustainable and just transitions.\n\nJoin the Movement\nWe invite climate innovators, digital entrepreneurs, policymakers, community builders, and research institutions to join the Global Risks Forum – Senegal Series as contributors, facilitators, and ecosystem partners. Together, let’s shape resilient futures for Senegal—rooted in knowledge, solidarity, and transformative innovation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
