Operating independently from the Government of Botswana and any political affiliations, NWG Botswana offers a nonpartisan, evidence-based space for addressing disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk finance (DRF), and disaster risk intelligence (DRI).\nThis edition contributes to the broader mission of the Global Risks Alliance (GRA) and Global Risks Forum (GRF)—planetary frameworks advancing systemic foresight, resilience innovation, and ethical global collaboration. The Botswana forum engages participants across the quintuple helix—academia, civil society, private sector, international organizations, and government (as non-governing stakeholders).\n\nStrategic Purpose\nThe Botswana series is designed to:\n\nAddress multi-dimensional risks such as drought, water scarcity, desertification, economic dependency on extractives, and wildlife-human conflict;\nIntegrate Indigenous ecological knowledge and modern science into anticipatory planning and sustainability governance;\nPromote financial innovation through community-based climate funds, nature-based insurance, and ESG-aligned investments;\nSupport inclusive knowledge systems, youth-led innovation, and gender-equitable approaches to resilience.\n\nThrough strategic workshops, foresight labs, and simulation-based policy design, the forum produces outcomes such as digital risk platforms, localized adaptation strategies, and participatory financing frameworks.\n\nGovernance and Participation\nNWG Botswana operates with full independence, aligned with the global standards and principles of the GRA and GRF. It is not affiliated with or accountable to any political body or government, ensuring all engagements reflect ethical integrity, inclusive governance, and global-local collaboration.\nParticipation is open to researchers, policy designers, Indigenous and rural community leaders, environmental managers, entrepreneurs, youth networks, and global partners.
